Based on the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of Republic of. 059/P/2012, dated March 21, 2012, Institute of Technology (ITS) are the executive establishment Kalimantan Institute of Technology (ITK) in Balikpapan-East Kalimantan. To that end, since the academic year 2012/2013, ITK has received 100 (one hundred) students of the first batch for the five study programs
- Mechanical Engineering,
- Electrical Engineering,
- Chemical Engineering,
- Civil Engineering and
- Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding Engineering.
In the first year, one hundred students were entrusted to college while waiting ITS Campus ITK development process. ITK campus locations are in the Soekarno Hatta Km 15 (Jl. Sungai Wain), Karang village Joang, Balikpapan, East Kalimantan. In early 2013 the building has started construction and is expected, in September 2013, the building had stood a cluster of ITK. At that time, the first batch of students will move and lectures on campus ITK and ITK status as a student.

As, first generation college students, the second year students will still be deposited ITK and lectures on ITS.
